The ferry dropped us off in Wellington and we got to experience our first city in 3 months! "Welly"is the
capital city of New Zealand. Maybe it is because we are a little homesick, but
the large city situated on a bay and surrounded with hills reminded us just a
little of San Francisco….The nostalgia increased because we spent most of our
one and a half days there walking, shopping, and eating on Cuba Street.
With its multicultural restaurants and tons of funky thrift shops Cuba Street
seemed like a slightly cleaner version of Telegraph Ave. While Wellington was
nice, it was incredibly windy, cold, and rainy almost the entire time we were there.
Ace also got a flat tire, which left us frantically trying to find a Firestone.
The bad weather and Ace’s decreasing health was not the start to the North
Island we wanted....
