The technical term for what we are doing is Freedom Camping. It is the idea that you can go anywhere and just set up camp. This is the perfect example of the spirit of New Zealand. In such a natural wonderland with endless exploring, freedom camping is the best way to experience NZ in all it's glory. Around every turn, behind every mountian, anywhere you look, there is always something amazing to see. If you had all the time in the world you could stop at every lookout, spend months in every national park, and frolick in every water source. Any local would tell you the best way to experience this country is to grab a refreshing Sauvignon Blanc and just pull of the road somewhere. My advice, bring a whole case.
