Our first stop in our road trip north was the town of Wanaka. An hour drive north, it is a less touristy version of Qtown. Maybe it was the grey weather or just our love for Qtown, but we were not impressed. It lacked the quaint small town feeling but we still enjoyed it’s cute cafes. Wanaka will be memorable for one reason only: our first car issue. The lights were left on and resulted in a very dead battery. Luckily we had purchased roadside assistance but this meant going back into town, finding a pay phone, figuring out how to use the pay phone, and then discovering that they could not find our policy. Thank goodness we are in a country that prides itself on being friendly because the woman went beyond her job description to look up the car market we bought Ace from, call them, have them go through their makeshift filing system, and find our policy. Within the hour we were back on our feet and Ace was humming as usual. (The issue finding our policy is because Ace is SO old that his license plate does not have the normal amount of letters- ha!)
