poor Ace

getting his first check up
no words needed

Our trusty Ace had a minor hiccup. We were noticing giant oil puddles consistently popping up right where we had parked. It became obvious that this was not a coincidence. After three failed attempts at car shops we ended up at Ford dealership of all places (got to love America). The mechanic seemed alarmingly confused by our engine- especially the handmade dingy that was supposed to read the oil levels. So up Ace went onto the lift. He looked pretty meager up there and we couldn’t help but feel like our fragile van was being violated.

The mechanic had a long at Ace’s under carriage and came back with a less then comforting facial expression. “There is oil everywhere! I’ve never seen anything like it!” He said leaks, as in plural freaking leaks. This all happened the day before we needed to go to the Heaphy Track so he pumped in a little bit of oil and we made an appointment to come back after we were done with the trek.

With Heaphy finished we made our way back to the Ford dealership and dropped Ace off to have a little bit of surgery. It seems Ace has more than one issue, big surprise. $400 dollars later and we should be back in business. Fingers crossed though…
