Driving on the wrong side is completely natural at this
point. However, this country, for some reason that will never make sense to us,
refuses to build two lane bridges. This means that while you are flying down
the highway at 100K (okay, more like 80K for ol’ Ace) you turn a corner only to
be immediately faced with a one-lane bridge. (They all seem to coincidently be
perfectly situated after blind turns) The only way to tour this country is by
car, which means the roads are full of giant camper vans, RV’s, tour buses, and
your regular old cars. In any given day we will come across as many as 30
bridges, all one lane! We often find ourselves having to eek to a stop as a
huge bus is coming straight at us. On one occasion the camper in front of us
did not see the oncoming bus leading to a whole chain of cars reversing off the
bridge! What I really want to know is how much more could it have possibly cost
to make these damn things two lanes.
